has anyone ever destroyed an ACT clutch?

pics of my dead 5000 mile ACT clutch.
I had an ACT street clutch installed about 5000 miles ago. Last monday I was near my house, and got a little spirited with my driving,(nothing like when I go to the track) All of the sudden I notice that
my clutch will bearly engage. Soon it gets to where it will almost not engage at all, so I limped it over to my favorite local tranny shop. Luckily I had to get my newly rebuilt transmission installed anyway (i have two, not a bad idea for 5 speed max owners) I told the owner, Kenny, about what happened, and told him that I thought it must be the slave cylender. He caled today and told me that the 1 1/2
month old clutch disc was shreaded. He said the the lining was in two peices and all that was on the disc was fibers. Now my car is nearly stock. only intake and MEVI. Also only two trips to the track. Most of the miles on the clutch were from my 100 mile a day commute so it was not stop and go driving. Luckily ACT has a 90 day unconditionl warrenty, so I am getting a brand new disc and pressure plate. Anyone ever heard of this? These clutches supposed to handle in the neighborhood off 400HP. I will post pics on this post tomorrow evening, when I go pic up my deceased clutch.

The ACT street disk is literally an OEM Nissan unit, just with stiffer springs. If your lining was toast, the same would have happened with an OEM unit. I agree with the responses that likely it was not installed correctly. Can't discount the possibility that the unit was defective, though. Always a possiblity. Sounds like you had a weird rare case though.

Plurco, OMG
the same freaking thing happened to my clutch. Read my post "Help, maxima in despair"... My mech told me my new ACT clutch was shredded, parts of the disc were chewup broken!!! I had the clutch for 2000 miles broke it in for 800 miles... ACT will replace everything free right??? Also I'm gonna try to get money for labor too, Its not fair for me too pay labor again for installation...

ok here is the deal. if the kit is under 90 days old you can swap out the defective parts where you bought them. (here is where you have an advantage of you gought your parts from a store front as I did) otherwise you have to send the defective parts to ACT and they will look at them and make a warrenty decesion.
