Battery Question

I have heard about disconnectiong the battery to do a full reset on the Maxima ECU. I know it clears out the memory and when the battery is reconnected, the car has to "relearn" everything. The question is this, How long should I leave the battery disconnected to let the ECU completely clear itself?

Thanks to everyone here for all the info and help in recent weeks, Its greatly appreciated.

I don't know if this works... someone mentioned it and i did it anyways. When you turn on the car, don't turn the wheel or anything... just let it idle for 5 min.

well this is right after reconnecting your battery, but I assume you have already done it. Oh well, just drive and sooner or later, the ECU does it's automatic re-learning all over again.

24 hours for a full reset
but why not just reset it manually? (the screwdriver method)

My ECU has been acting weird lately, and I want to unplug it and let it reset itself to see if it might go back to normal...... I have been getting 2 codes from the ECU and I have replaced the parts.... Not long after that, my ECU started acting funny.... The CEL wont come on when I turn on the ignition, and it does come on sometimes after I start the car..... I know the bulb is not blown.... Its a mess.... lol......
