Hi about 3 days ago i left my corners lights on n my car and when i came back the battery was dead... so i guy gave me jumper cables ... everything was fine that day, but next morning when i try to start the car it wouldn't start.... all the lights go on, but it wont start... after trying about 8 to 10 times it starts very weak, but it starts... and it will run fine for the rest of the day.. it only happens when i leave the car off for a long time..4 to 5 hours... and i wanna know if i need a new battery or new started?? Please help me
If your still on your original battery, it may not be holding charge from the alternator. That happened to me 2 weeks ago. When I turned the ignition, the only sound heard was a fast "tic-tic-tic". My radio would work as would headlights, hazards, power windows. Because I had a spare battery from a local Maxima owner, I put that in and the car started no probs. I still took my car into the dealer to test the alternator (since I still had a few hundered clicks on my warranty left). While there, the old battery was tested.
Here's what was reported:
No start 0.5 performed avr test alternator output 59amps under load. Battery output will testing alt. 10.6 volts. Battery load test voltage drop 10.8 volts. Performed battery load test on (original battery) in back seat reading 5.5 volts no good.
p.s. my oem battery was 6 yrs. old

OT: Did you maintain the battery by topping up the individual cells with distilled water to make it last this long?

Considering your Max is a '95, it's worth getting a new one. If you get stranded somewhere & you end up paying for a tow, that'll set you back a few bucks. Might as well direct that money towards a new battery.

If your battery is dead or almost dead, then the car will not start. Considering the fact that you had left your lights on and the car is 95, I can say that your battery is almost dead, and the reason why it still starts hardly even tho the battery is dead is because everytime you drive your car, the battery charges up. when you turn off the car and go somewhere then come back after 15-30 minutes, the battery is still working because it has been charged alittle, but when you leave it off overnight, they battery goes almost fully dead and that is why you will have hard time starting the car after 4-5 hours or more. Getting a new battery would fix it, and I dont think there is anything else to worry about.
