Get a Homelink visor from a 98 or 99.

I have a 97, and a rolling security code on a "Overhead Door" brand garage door opener, and I was able make mine work. It is a little tricky.

Go to the homelink web site or call them for detailed instructions. You have to push a button on the garage door motor or pc board at a certain time during programming.

It may take you a few tries. And it helps to have someone around press that button.

Why swap? Your 97 will work.

Rolling code programming instructions here:

What is the production date of your '97? If it is an early 97, you will have to get a unit off of a '98 or '99. My '97 was built in November of 96 and the Homelink unit is NOT compatible with the new rolling code garage door openers. I verified it with the people at Homelink.
