Timing problems Any fix? (long)

Ok i have a 1995 se auto (not that that matters) but as some might know the timing is not adjustable. Well my timing is off so am i just screwed. I'll explain how it got off. Well i had a coolant problem, fixed that by installing a new water pump and thermostat. But i accidentally lost a part (a spring that that goes in the timing chain tensioner) and for a while my car was making the most aweful noise from the timing chain and started idle'ing and driving poorly. Well After being ripped off and miss led at the dealership I fixed the noise. But now the car is running absolutely terribly. It surges when in drive at idle, and its accelerateds really roughly up through 3k rpms, shifts hard into second at 4k rpms and runs just all around poorly through the rest of the band. So to me it seems like my timing is off, at one point my timing chain was way too lose thats what the aweful sound was for, but thats fixed. I think somehow it messed up my timing though when it was loose. Or it could be from when the car was overheating, something got screwed up inside the engine but i have no clue, the ecu's not throwing any codes i checked today. So What does it sound like it could be, and is there anyway to fix?...I've pretty much already decided to get a newer engine i got a great deal lined up but i have to wait till i can get the money. So i want a quick temp fix for this problem until then. Any idea's.

Your timing chain has probably jumped a tooth.

based on previous experinces, if your timing chain jumped a tooth it shouldnt even start up and have weak spark in multiple cylinders. when you metioned timing was adjustable you were refering to IGNITION timing rite? so are we talkin bout ENGINE timing or IGNITION timing rite now?

no i said timing was not adjustable and i'm talking about valve timing not ignition timing. And i don't think it jumped a tooth cause not only would i it probably not start, but the clearence in there is pretty small and i think you'd have ALOT of sound if it jumped a tooth. Also as another symptom my car is running through gas like theres a hole in my tank. I had a half a tank when i left today drove 18 miles and now i'm at a quarter tank. I'm running VERY VERY Rich.
