It's actually very simple. Loosen the bolt holding on the wiring harness connector and disconnect the harness, then remove the 4 screws holding the ECU to the bracket and remove the ECU.

...unfortunately, the 4 screws are ridiculously difficult to remove. A standard shorty phillips head screwdriver is way to long to remove. You need to use one of the ratchet-style screwdrivers, and even with one of those it's a pain.

only screw that was a bish was the passanger side one in the rear. the rest were pretty simple using a small 90 degree angle ratched screwdriver. after you take it out you can just leave out that hard screw since it holds fine with only 2-3 screws

Yeah, I am not looking forward to doing this. I have to send my ECU into JWT this week. Nealoc187 said it was one of the most PITA things he has had to do to his car.
He suggested the same thing. Disconnect the mounting bracket from the car and take the whole thing out. He also said taking the dash apart may be the best way.

Get a offset ratcheting screwdriver. The one I got was from craftsman and the product code is 4116. You don't have to take the whole dash off, just have a good friend do it for you....

ditto, BIG TIME PITA. i dislodged all the annoying nissan clips that hold the thick harness to the bracket and removed the whole thing with the bracket. this was after i got all 3 screws out no problem but the drivers side firewall one got me. it stripped in a heartbeat. i put the JWT in with the 2 front screws only (dashboard side) and it holds no problem.
