The thing has Douglas tires on it now, which came with the car when I got it. They are starting to get worn down and I need to replace them in a bit here. Someone told me to put Michelin tires on...any other suggestions and reasons why?

What do you want to do with your car? The Kumho MXs are a great tire and are pretty cheap, might wanna check those out

Go forward a couple of pages, there was just a thread on this.

I just got Toyo Proxes and I'm very happy with them.

Got 'em. (a year ago)

Love 'em. (didn't do too badly in the snow, either)

Best tire you can get for under $70, IMO.

Kumhos 712 are a good deal, and are above average in grip. Somewhat soft sidewall, but decently quiet.

The BFG g-Force KDW grip like mad, are awesome in wet weather, but don't expet any traction in snow. They are somewhat noisy, but have VERY STIFF sidewalls. They will make your car feel like you've changed the springs/shocks. Steering response will be better and much more direct. I love them myself, but the ride can get harsh. Most of the time, you can feel a change in the grain of the pavement through the steering wheel. They are progressive at the limit. I love them.

I highly recommend the BFG.

either 460 or 420 i think. also have a 50,000 mile guarantee. excellent tire, I've had them for about 5 months, couldn't be happier. and like someone said, quite good in the snow, too.

How good are those Dunlops in rain? It doesn't snow here, but it does ocassionaly get really wet.

excellent. haven't hydroplaned yet and we've had about 10" of rain in the last three weeks here in chicago. same goes for last fall, too.
