poorman's intake GT-R?

Ok I got the poorman's intake and I was looking at it the other night and I was thinking that the intake can just take the air from up and not from any other place. Up?....why not cut a 6' by 6' square in the fender down of the intake I said to myself...but would this be a good idea? would it suck up water?

suck the air from up? You mean suck the air upwards through the pipe?
what are you saying?

I think this is what he might mean, you have the pop charger, and the filter is kind of sitting ontop of the wheel well, if you cut a hole in the well right below the filter, would it draw up up cool air through there. The effects of a CAI w/o actually having the piping and filter down in the wheel well. Is this what you mean

sorry about that

I mean that the only way the air filter(cone)sucks air is on top (where the hood is). on the right theres the battery on the left theres the fender and on the bottom theres the fender. I mean cut the fender to get air circulating in that area. and by this it would suck cold air. would it suck water too?

underhood CAI...?

I recently got the K&N cone filter (waiting for the Frankencar mid-pipe to arrive - good deal = slow shipping). I have been thinking of routing a hose (or hoses) from the front valance to the area where the filter rests. The FC webpage shows some sort of fiberboard heat shielding but no information is available. Shielding the intake filter from underhood heat while piping in cooler outside air seems like a good idea to me. Anyone on the org thinking or already running something similar? Be Safe, Mark V.

Hey, maybe you could try those hood lifters. They lift the back of your hood up maybe 1" or less, I don't really know much about them, except for said fact. I think this lift will increase air flow under your hood.

I think I get what your trying to say. maybe if you have resources to do so you can cut out a section from the body right under where a pop charger filter would be then weld some sort of shielding around it to act like a short ram CAI of some sort

I think once your car is moving there is plenty of air rushing through the engine bay.

if you are talking about cutting a hole in the fender exposing a 6x6 inch area of the engine compartment to the wheel well i say your crazy. think of all the water, dirt, scum spray that you will get into your engine bay. much less if your filter sucks up that crap. granted they say that k&n's work best dirty... air flow anyone? bad idea. do you really want to take the chance of getting that crap into your intake. (if i totally missed what you were trying to say you can smack me for being an *******) keep cool, later
