Need some sunroof help
#1
I went out yesterday to put down my sunroof and the damn thing got stuck in the all the way open position. I tried to close it but it just made that sound like in the process of closing but I'm stuck. It would not move at all so after about 15 minutes of tugging forward and hitting the button to inch it up it finaly was closed. The thing is that it won't work but to only pull the sunroof open and not close it.
Is this something that I should try to tackle or should I let the dealership take care of this (heck I have the 100,000 mile warranty)? I am just afraid that they will say "Sorry, normal wear and tear". What is my defense against this?

I have the same problem
The same thing happened to me today! The motor still runs but the roof just seems to be disconnected. If any one knows anything about this let me know too! I am going to the dealer in the morning to see what they will do. I hope it is covered in the factory warranty.

I don't think this could be determined as normal wear and tear. . . I would take it in and see what they say. If you have the warrenty you might as well use it, if they deny you, call up Nissan North America and complain about the dealership, sometimes they will take your side and force them to replace the part. I know a few people that have done it on this board a while ago with the 2K TCU (or said they have).

Re: I have the same problem
Yesterday I dropped my car off at the dealer (I have had my Max for 3 weeks i didnt purchase the 100K mile warranty they offered me because I used to own a G20 and it never had any problems for the 130K miles that i had it so i decided not to purchase the warranty knowing that nissan makes perfect cars.) i was hoping that the sunroof would be covered under my 30 day warranty from the dealership or on the 60K manufacturer warranty. they said that it was not covered and they want to charge me $1409 parts and labor to fix the roof. i think this was there way to get me to buy the 100K warranty (which does cover the sunroof and lots of other things) so i got the warranty. i would have had to pay the money either way.
