"Breaking In" the Knock Sensor

"Breaking In" the Knock Sensor
Well I changed my KS a few months ago, and now I get the ghost KS code again (03 04) and nothign else. There is another thread that says how people put a resitor on the KS to sort of bypass it so that the ECU would read that it is fine. I'm thinking about doing this, but then my friend told me that the ECU needs time to "break in" the KS, about 300 miles or so. And supposedly everytime you check for codes on the ECU, it starts teh process again. I have been checking codes recently to see if somethign pops up, and am thinking that if I reset my ECU completely and leave the car to run for about 300 miles, somethign will happen, if not I will try the resistor idea becaus emy engine is runnign horrible with horrible idling, loss of low end power, bad gas mileage..basically as if the timing was really messed up due to the KS i think. Well let me know what you guys think or any suggesstions. Thanks

The reason your getting the KS code is because your engine has knock and / or ping that it's picking up.
The KS code is set when the KS produces a voltage that is outside the acceptable range. (Taken from the Nissan Factory Service Manual) That means it's picking up engine knock or ping that is greater then the norm.

Maybe I miss understood you. Did you clear the ECU codes after you installed the new KS? I don't think the code clears by itself.
I changed my KS about two months ago. I pulled the negative battery cable for about 1 day, and after that my car runs like it is brand new (except for an oil leak). I check the ECU code every so often and I always get 0505.
