Towing capacity
I didn't think that the maxima was rated for that load (max is 1000#). Also what type of hitch have you got?
I was thinking of the hidden hitch for myself and was wondering if someone could explain tongue ratings. Whether 100# would be enough.

I think the automatics are rated at 1000 lbs. and the 5spd is rated at 2500 lbs. Tongue rating is pretty light but stronger shocks should take care of that. They have a class 1 hitch w/modulater for around $200 installed.
NOOOOOOO
Hey guys.... when I moved from NJ to AZ (now back in NJ) I towed 1500lbs in a u-haul behind the max... long story short. I needed a new main input shaft bearing in my trans and a new clutch....
Good news is I now have an ACT STREET / STRIP set up and I LOVE IT
Bad news, I was out $300 for the clutch and $88 for the new bearing (labor was free just some blood, sweat and time)
Thats my $0.02

I have a three seater seadoo(700Lbs.) and I towed it a total of 7 hours with luggage in the car and also acessories packed on the seadoo? Just a thought that is perfectly around 1000 lbs and the max did awesome at 90+ on the freeway!
