Haveing problems with my tail lights

I am Haveing problems with my tail lights. Sometime my driver one will be on, and other times it will not turn on at night unless i hit the breaks. What could this be?

The light is a dual filament bulb. The dimmer bulb filament could have burnt out but the brake light still intact. Try replacing the bulbs. I believe they are 1156.

1156 is the single-filament. You need 1157.
Markargente is right, with two filaments, the 8 watt (on with tail lights) is probably blown. The 27 watt filament (comes on with brakes) is still working. Your only other guess would be a short in the wire, but if one works always and the other does not, replace the bulb.

short in the plug
sort in the connector
moisturein the plug
throw a multi-meter on it and se what she tells ya.
