I have 95 GLE auto and I can only run this car around 250 miles after filling up the tank(Local, not highway miles).
I have two friends who both have 98 SE auto and they say they can go up to around 300 miles with full tank(again, local).
I even tried not to go over 2500~3000rpm when I drive, but still, i can only go around 250 miles.
Is my car abnormal? or is it because my car is old?
The condition of my car seems to be fine, no major problems other than the miles per gallon I get. My car takes about 14 gallons to fill up, and it can go around 250 meaning it can do around 17.8 miles per gallon.
How are your numbers go?

I do a lot of local driving with my max two and mileage is probably around 18-19mpg around the city and I don't beat on her much. Course 20% of her run time is probably sitting on the driveway warming up so.... possibly that may sway the mileage a bit. I did take one trip with it since I got it a month ago and it got around 28+ on the highway so I'm not complaining

i have a 99 maxima se 5spd. this year i got a new job that requires 88 miles of highway driving each day (44 miles each way), and i notice that i get about 25 mpg, if i get stuck in rush hour, but i can get 28 mpg if i manage to miss rush hour. i used to do a lot of local driving (lived 2mi from old job) and i was doing average 23 mpg.
if you are getting 17mpg, i think something is wrong...

Well SupaC, soundds like your car is on the bottom end of normal gas mileage. The auto seem to eat much more gas in "city" driving. I have a 5 speed and get around 23 in town and 25+ on the hwy. OF course the mileage drops 2-4 mpg is I "play". I have also heard that our computer adjusts to our driving style-if that's true, then you would need to drive conservative for 100 miles or so before the computer would relearn your driving habits...

My car gets about 400 miles to the tank. I use only Premium Fuel now, 92 Octane I believe. Of course I was on the highway when I conducted this test. When I first bought the car I ran regular, a big no no! When I switched to premium the car ran better, and got better gas mileage. About 20 to 30 miles more on a full tank. What kind of fuel are you using?

i always use premium gas in my maxima, and i have always been using synthetic motor and transmission fluids (since 1300 on the odo).
i think it helps on the gas mileage -- i do almost all highway driving now, and i can do over 400 mi on a tank of gas and have gotten 28mpg. my car has 25k miles on it. car seems to like texaco the best... but they always seem to be the more expensive, and it is not convenient for me to get their gas.
this last week has been good driving for me (didnt hit rush hour all week), and the fuel meter shows (did over 250mi before the 1/2 mark, so we will see this weekend when i fill up; maybe another 28mpg week. hee hee )

I just recently finished my first full tank of gas. My 96SE-auto has about 98K miles. I got 311 miles on 14.6 gallon, so that's 21.3 MPG. Quite frankly I was very disappointed. I do about 50/50 local and freeway. But even for freeway drive I get stuck in traffic. Still, 21.3MPG is disappointing. This is the first automatic car I've ever owned. When I had my 5-sp 84 300ZX, the car would get at least 22-23 MPG around town even with 180k+ miles on the odometer.

i don't get very good gas mileage. but i know why though. it because i drive like i am possesed most of the time, not really speeding wise but acceration wise so whatever keeps track of my driving habits is in performance mode right now.

I average between 18-21 daily...
On a trip back from Berkeley in December I logged an all-time high of 28.3mpg for the whole trip.
Damn..you sure do gotta pay with if you wanna play..with lots of gas!
Ugh..I love my car, but damn, is it a gas guzzler..
