I have never thrown a Cel until Yesterday - 0705, 0309 (???), 0304

I have never thrown a cel in my 98 Se auto until Yesterday. I knew I jinxed myself when I said that I was lucky not to have anything go wrong with my car. I checked the codes today and got a 0705 - EVAP Control System, 0309 - Undefined (I swear I counted it right, I don't know what it is) and a 0304 - Knock Sensor. What is the EVAP Control System? Is it hard to fix? How much is a Knock Sensor? Is it hard to replace? Thank you for an help in advance.
By the way my car has 77k and I bougth it last year off of my parents with 60K. The car has had no problems excpet maintenance parts(brakes, 60k service). Oil change every 3k.

The knock sensor is bad and has been for some time. It won't cause a CEL to light just poor performance, many folks don't even notice the drop in performance. The Evap problem is most likely the canister vent control valve. Read the FAQ on diagnostics too.

I googled the code 0309 and I came up with the EVAP canister vent control valve open and 0705 as the EVAP Emission System - Small Leak. I am assuming these have to do with each other so I ordered a new EVAp vent control valve from Courtesy Nissan for $27.86 plus shipping. I will replace that and see how it goes. I mine as well replace the gas cap also while I am at it. I will let you know if it works.

the evap control system code may be something as simple as a bad gas cap. check/ replace that for a cheap place to start. I did that yesterday and reset the light so well see if that takes care of it or not. otherwise the problem lies in the evap canister and/or canister valve. ill let yas kno how i make out
