bypassing "cruise ON" button, to activate with "cruise set" button

I have been told that it is possible to eliminate the "cruise ON" button for the cruise control. I want to be able to turn on cruise control by just pressing the button on the wheel, without having to lean forward to reach the first button in the cruise operation sequence.

Sorry to waste bandwidth on a topic that has been explained in the past but I cannot use the search option.

Moderators: Can someone find Daniel B. Martin's writeup on how to do this and post it to the FAQ sticky? This has been asked several times recently.

I'll give the boiled down version so as to not leave the OP hanging. Look at your relay boxes under the hood. One of them will have a relay labeled ASCD. Pull that relay. There are 4 terminals in a square. 3 of the 4 in the socket will have the same orientation, and one will be perpendicular to the others. Make a jumper wire and connect the perpendicular one with the one across from it, thereby closing the circuit (not the coil) on the relay. That's it.

Crude ASCII art:

Code:
    |<--------- Connect this terminal...
 _ _

    _<--------- to this one.
