Rustproofing Rotors?

I have read a little about 'plating' the rotors and also read that it is just as effective to use some spray paint on them to stop them rusting. Any input on this? What is the best way to go???

Just go drive around and hit your brakes, it burns all the rust off. I'd advise against using any type of cover or paint on your rotors because that will definately affect your car's braking performance, and could possible lead your brakes to completely fail. Rust on the rotors is just a part of life, you just have to get use to it.

I got the same problem. Just on the inside part where the pad doesn't touch the rotor. I'm just going to use a paint brush and go over it.

Peace - Chad

I masked off the pad to rotor contact area on my new Brembos and painted the rest of the rotor with silver header paint. After the whole winter (it's wet in Oregon), the parts of the rotor that usually rust are still smooth and shiny silver. Good stuff. Hope that helps.

Did you have to prime at all? How many coats?

I made sure it was clean by wiping it down well with laquer thinner, and just went with 2-3 light coats and you'll be good to go. No primer required with header paint.
