For the small bushings, I used a shop press. This will push the rubber out, but chances are the outside metal sleeve will remain in the control arm. To remove this tight fitting bast@rd, a slot will need cut lengthwise through the sleeve. This will relieve it's tension and allow it to be removed. It can be hacksawed, (which is safe, and probably the best method. You'll just have to take the blade off and put it through the hole before re-attaching it to the saw.) A die grinder can be used, or a sawzall (if you're in a hurry). Just be careful not to cut too much, as if you cut too deep, it's easy to cut too far into the control arm itself. (I used the sawzall, and cut slightly into the arm, but not enough to worry about.)
For the big bushing, I set the control arm in the press and used a smaller diameter rod (actually, I used an old V8 engine valve turned upside down) under the ram to press the control out of the bushing. Make sure it's centered, and it should come right out. Yes, the rubber covers the end, but the rod will push right through it.
This would be a tough job without a press.
Good Luck!
