Suspension problem of some sort...HELP

Hey, guys, new problem with the max...
everytime I crank the wheel all the way to the left, or turn while hitting an odd bump, my cars front left suspension makes a CREAAAAAAK and thunk sorta noise...This wouldn't even bother me so much, except for the fact that when i take high speed right corners, the car will randomly JUMP to the left, and decide it doesn't want to take a corner that sharp...Also, the problem seems to be magnified during acceleration...for instance, if i go around a right corner coasting, and midway hit the throttle, slack will appear in the wheel, which is what makes the car drift left...
If someone could tell me what they think the problem is, and how much it is gonna cost me, i would greatly appreciate it... Also, is this something i could do myself? i would really rather NOT take it to anyone if i can help it...If someone in the CT, MA, area and could help me, i would gladly flip em a few $$$...i would just like to get this solved, it kinda sucks to drive on the highway with my car like this...
thanks in advance,
KYLE

Sounds like strut bearings or strut mounts to me.

Yea, it could be a CV joint. (it's more efficient to just change the axle)

The part of the statement that said it would 'thunk' when a bump was hit with the wheel turned was what sounds like a strut bearing our strut mount.

A clicking or clacking sound when turning the wheel tight WITHOUT hitting hitting a bump is usually a giveaway for a CV joint. If it's really bad, it can also make the wheel hang up a bit when applying the throttle around with the wheel cut really hard.

It sounds like the problem could be either... or both.

Good Luck!

ouch...there is not a "clicking noise" at all...under any circumstance.... But when stopped, if I turn the wheel all the way left, it does this groan bang noise, or when comin outt of a low driveway that my friend has while taking a left it makes this noise...otherwise, the only other symptoms are the drifting/looseness around right hand corners

strut bearing...I just came down with the same symptom...I was about a mile from my mechanics place when I heard it, and I drove it to his shop and said that it was my strut bearing ..the spring is slipping, which is causing the noise...
