neither since the corner light next to the headlights are made clear to show the corner as you're turning. Why do you think they get brighter when you turn on your blinkers? If you mean the clear corners(which you probably don't since you don't rewire them, just in case you try to use that as your excuse) then amber...

I left mine non-wired and I love the look. As long as you have a black, silver, white, blue, or gold Maxima, the look is pretty sweet. If you have the burgundy Max, I don't think it will look very good. Also, when the cornering lamp is on in a turn, it still lights up where you're turning. It's not as bright, but it does light up the area.

97's don't get brighter with the turn signal.
I tried the amber bulb with the 8 watt filament burning. It was too dim, meaning it didn't put out enough light to "fill" the lamp assembly. It made it appear as if you were looking at a bulb by itsself without a lens assembly (like one of those outdoor Christmas lights). With the 27 watt filament burning, it spreads the light through the assembly better, making it appear as the assembly is lit up.
Basically comes down to personal preference, but I like the 27 watt burning. Also remember that an amber bulb at 8 or 27 watts does not appear as bright as a white one of the same wattage.
