I have an oem clutch in my car with only 10k miles on it. Every once in a while it has a good day but most of the time it slips between hard regular shifts 1-2-3 and takes a second to catch. My car has a intake and y-pipe and forget about using my nitrous bc my clutch wont have that! Do similiar things happen to you guys with a newer stock clutch? Is that just how the stock clutch on maxima's acts? Also which clutch should i get if i decide to put aftermarket in Exedy or Act i searched but still dunno I need something that can handle the n/a power as well as a 50 shot.

About a year ago I had installed what I thought was an OEM clutch. I have put about 30K miles on it so far. It has never been the best clutch. Initially, there was a good bit of chatter, and it was very hard to smoothly start out in first gear. It has gotten somewhat better, but it does not hold well enough to be able to powershift. I later found out that the clutch I got was a Nissan Key Value clutch. This is the clutch I believe you normally get when you go to the dealer to get one. According to a parts guy I talked to, they are supposedly as good as the actual OEM, but just cheaper. I paid $170 for mine. The parts guy said you can get an actual OEM clutch for more money, but I'm not sure what it would cost. A few months after my clutch install, I found out on this site that many people have had bad experiences with the Key Value clutch. I'll be getting an OEM or possibly an aftermarket clutch when this one dies.

Yeh i actually had the key value clutch and found out it is not the same as the oem one before i put it in. I returned it and put the right oem one in which looks and is different from the key value line.(little more money) But the real oem one wasnt holding up as well as i hoped and the recent 50shots of nitrous i think killed it. When it is shifted hard but not powershifted i used to get a nice chirp or some spin from first to second now the clutch just slips for a couple seconds as if i was clutching the car off the line then finally grabs. Also i have been driving 5 speed for 4years now and when i had a prelude got 80k out of the clutch. 40k of it with me driving.

i think exedy makes a facotry verion on the oem clutch.. for about $180 on ebay.. sorry no link.. they claim 10-20% more clamping pressure power. te exedy stage 1 is 36% i think... i dont know any people on the org to have actually bought and installed an exedy factory replacement or a stage 1.. so i duno about their real time rea world feel.. but the exedy stage 1 is about 80-100 bux cheaper than the act stage 1. somethign to look into when its that time again..
