crazy weekend rant and help needed.......

okay, friday night, i got ran off the road by an ******* in a jeep cherokee and almost wrecked the car. So, i go and chase him while my g/f is on the phone calling the cops. The cops are all like, "well, we've got a lot of other things going on, we'll send and officer if we can....". I grabbed the phone and told them to send a cop or send the coroner, because if i got my hands on the guy he was dead. So, i' chase him up all these backroads for like 15 miles, and the dispatcher calls back every 5 minutes to find out what road we're on, how far on it, etc. Just as we're getting to a major road, where i'm assuming a cop was waiting, the guy pulls of the road into a development with huge potholes in the road. My G/F calls the dispatcher to let her know what road we turned on to, and the guy stops and pulls a 3-point turn in front of me. He comes around, facing me head-on, and i'm thinking he's going to try and ram me, or go past me, and he kills his headlights (leaves his parking lights on), and points a gun out the window. I throw the max in reverse and fly back down the road and almost wind up taking out two other cars in the process. Two minutes later, like 50 cop cars swarm in. They get the guy, but can't find any gun because he's managed to ditch the thing in the woods, and now i'm in trouble because i " had no right to follow the guy, regardless of the fact that he ran me off the road"

Saturday night, had to pick up some things at walmart. When, i got back to my car, the passenger side mirror is smashed off, and it looks like someone ran a shopping cart along the side of the car, scratching the **** out of it.

So now, my alignment is all screwed up from flying in reverse from the **** in the cherokee. Also, one of the sensor clusters got knocked loose, and wedged itself under the accelerator cable, so the car was revving to redline for 20 minutes. I got it out of there, but now have to find someplace to strap it down again. And i need a new passenger side mirror, and new paint on the passenger side.

My question is, will a mirror from any 4th gen fit on a 99? or do i need another 99? Also, would it just be easier to get M3 mirrors? does anyone know how hard it is to replace these things?

Will post pics later.......

Honestly, thats why as long as no damage is done to my car becuase of someones road rage, I let them go. If they're that screwed up in the head to drive like that, no telling what they could be capable of if cornered, as you found out. Sorry to hear about your car, but I'm glad he didnt pull the trigger.
As far as the mirror goes, when I looked for some, I was told all 4th gens are the same.....

Whoa!

Yea chasing him probably wasn't the best idea. I saw some **** on the news or something how you can get their plate number then file a complaint with the registry against them. Then there's a hearing and all that and the registry can take away their license or whatever...that might have been a safer alternative.

sterling: It was the walmart in eastburg. I guarantee you it was one of the d1cks that hang out in the Burger king parking lot flashing their LED washer nozzles all night that did it. I usually Burn a little rubber in front of them everytime i pass by, just to see if i get any takers.

Update on the whole "road rage" thing: I called the police dpt. to find out what was happening, and was told that since no weapon was found, no charges can be filed, even for harassment. I'm still waiting for a call from the officer on whether or not the guy is even going to get a ticket for running me off the road. If not else, he better get cited for pasing in a no passing zone. If nothing happens with it, i'm going to raise hell.

just to clarify: That white stuff around where the mirror used to be is a plastic bag that covers the wires that control the mirror. They were calling for severe thunderstorms this afternoon, and i didn't feel like having the electrical system short out on the way home.

I did go through car-parts.com, a new mirror is between $75 and $135.....i want to find a black one so it matches. Wasn't that one of the SE-L features, door handles and mirrors painted the same body color......

that doesnt look like a shopping cart rubbed against the car...as the marks are quite high/thick, most shopping carts i've seen have a shorter guard around the edges. i really think someone pulled up really close to your car with another car...also, it seems that it would be quite hard to get a shopping car to make those kinda marks. since i didnt get a first-hand look at it though, i wouldnt know for sure...but that really sucks, hope walmart has it all on video!

i doubt it was a cart....never specifically said it was, but i can't see the logic in someone rubbing their car up against mine, and i couldn't see anything else readily availible that would do that. I'm not even wasting my time with insurance, it'll be cheaper to replace it out of my own pocket. I found a mirror for $70, and i'll just take some time and replace it myself.

Sorry about your luck. Consider yourself lucky that you and your girlfriend didn't end up getting shot. I used to get really bad road rage but realized that it does me no good. If some jerk cuts you off, ignore him and let him go because you'll never know what kind of psycho you're dealing with. By the way, mad respect for your girlfriend for not losing her cool during the chase. My girl would never let me go on a chase!

no, she lost her cool. She was screaming at me the entire time. Besides which, as long as i'm around, she gets ballsy. The second i leave, she goes back to her normal self.
