Hanabi HID keeps shutting off while driving =(
Well, a couple of days ago, I posted a thread about how my HIDs shut off while my car was idling (all accessories in car were on too) and how my car wouldnt turn back on. I figured that since I had so many things on, that the strain on the alternator and battery was just too much.
Well, now I can say that I have learned my lesson, and it hasnt happened since, but I still have a small problem. When I turn on my HIDs, my passenger sides seems weak, like its slower to turn on, almost always. Now, when I drive, the passenger side just turns off completely. I try to turn the lights off and on sometimes, but I dont like doing that, because its not good for the HIDs. SOmetimes when I do that, that side turns on, but most of the time it doesnt. If it does turn on, it will surely go off again. Why is this happening? Again, I have Hanabi 8000k HIDs, and its only on my passenger side. Wiring issue? Bad ballast? Anything? Let me know thanks.

when i first got my hanabi 8k's i was so excited...installed them that minute. when it started to get dark, i noticed a small problem. i flick them on and they woudl come on nice and bright, and would suddenly dim suddenly and would only remain at that dimmed level for the rest of the time. this would happen each time i flicked them on that night. so i read some posts that said that i shoudl upgrade the fuses. so next day went to walmart, got new fuses (the whole time, didnt turn on the lights since i wanted to make sure they were running on the new fuses). threw in the new fuses, and flicked them on right there in the parking lot. passenger side wouldnt even turn on...i wasl ike "what the HELL?" i jiggled all the wires, and i heard one of the relays snapping like crazy. I was annoyed...tried turning them on and off a few times, no luck. so i drove home with the lights off and tried turning them on again. drivers side came on, and THAT too went out then. turns out the ballast both went bad in one night. sent them back and got new ones with no relays. these seem not to dim and no trouble with them going out. you probably have bad ballasts, and according to my situation, once the passenger one went out, the drivers soon followed. have whoever you bought them from take a look at them. the person i got mine from (freddie) was really good about the whole situation...got the new ones back within a week.

Well I bought these from an org member, who bought them from Freddie. I told freddie about how I bought them from an org member so he was cool about it. I bought thtese, because the seller said that he had just gotten new ballasts for them, and I think new bulbs too Im not sure about that. So basically it was practically new. Maybe I should talk to Freddie and see whats up..ive talked to him like 3 times already, he's a great help. I did upgrade the fuses. And yes, I have bad luck with HIDs =(

Well, I took the two bulbs and switched sides, I still get the same problem. SO then I took the "bad" ballast/starter from teh passenger side and put it on the drivers side bulb, and it started fine. I only tried it once, so I'm not sure if it was just a luck thing, what do you guys think.

Pretty much check everything. Before I send out the ballast to you, I'm going to take the ballast that has no problems and put it on teh other side ( I didnt do that today cause i was in a tight place). If I switch and it doesnt work right, then it has to be a wiring problem. If not, then I'm going to ship them to you.

have you checked your ground? i remember reading a post a while back with a solution for your exact problem. something to do with grounding...not sure if it was here or at audiworld forum. try a search. if i find it first, i will post it for you.

OK I have a question, I have to keep the kits until saturday cause the post office nor UPS works on teh 4th of July. Anyways, I was wondering, if I wire teh HID straight to the battery, like no going through the harness for the light switch or anything, and if they do the same problem then its the ballast. But say that the lights stay on..and dont shut off, I would be looking at a wiring problem right? I mean my McCullochs that I had before were going out, and it was on the same side. This has gotten me to think...hmmm
