To those who removed the stock intake snorkle...
I removed mine a month or so after I put on my intake which was earlier this year, I think. Well because of the cooler weather here in Chitown I haven't been using my AC at until last week when the nasty heat hit. Anyway I noticed that the air wasn't even close to being as cool as it was when I still had the snorkle. After playing around under the hood I realized that the box that is left under the battery is what gets the air for the AC. That is where the pipe that come off the side of the snorkle went. Now I'm kinda ****ed at myself and need to get some metallic heater duct thing from Home Depot to run it to the box and on to run from front of car to the cone. Has nyone noticed the change in temp like I did? This is only for 95-96 maxes as the 97 and on got rid of the snorkle and made it different. Does anyone with a 97 or newer 4th gen know how it works in their car? I would be very thankful if someone knows anything about this...
im pretty sure i had the piece you are talking about, the one that started right where the hood meets the top of the grill and goes below the battery? i removed mine(99) and havent noticed any difference down here in nashville, got up to 92 today and had the a/c on 3 all day long, but i have black on black with leather so the sun really heats it up. what did you do with the stock snorkel?
good luck
good luck
i kept it on... dunno if there's any difference tho. Just 2 weeks ago, my stupid transmission guy took off the snorkel but didn't put it back on. It's sittin in my trunk right now... i might throw it back on for the hell of it. I notice that there's an openening underneath it, i might try you're idea and devise some sort of ram air thing.

Weird, i live in FL and it gets pretty damn hot and i removed mine months ago and have noticed NO difference. Maybe your AC needs a charge?! I highly doubt its because of the snorkel, trust me...

I'm 99% sure that box is just used as a baffle for noise.
I'm also 99% sure that the intake for the A/C would be just below the wiper blades.

95 and 96 are the only ones that have the snorkles that go from front of the car to the intake box and to the box under the battery. ALL the people that have 97 and on do not have these stock or at least that's what I gathered from all those replacing their intakes...
i put a thermometer in my air duct in the car just to see how cold it was getting.....sitting still in humid 90 degree weather i was at 47.8 degrees at the vent thats with the car sitting still! Nissan has some kick a$$ AC units

Your removal of whatever you removed and the symptoms you described are not characteristic of an event that would cause your A/C to stop blowing cold air. Have your R-134 charged and the difference should be noticeable.
