How many of you did this...

How many of your took your reinforcment beam off in the front of the car because of a front end piece. And if you did do u think it affects the car in anyway like body roll and such?

He's talking about the front sway bar. A couple of others in the autocrossing forum have done this with great success.

It adds a little bit more body roll, but it gives you more oversteer and better turn-in. It also makes the car ride a little better because the front suspension can travel more freely. I love it personally.

Could there be any frame damage or warping?

So...it's just a front sway bar. It's sole purpose is to limit body roll. As long as you have stiff springs (lowering springs), you'll be fine.

I think he is talking about the Bumper reinforcment, I have it off the car as of right now, and there is no affects from what i can tell. I almost think of it as a free weight reduction, but then agian you must keep safety in mine also.

If the bumper reinforcement hasd been removed and you are in a wreck, your insurance company will not cover you since you have removed a federally mandated safety device.

Could be big-time lawsuit.

Would they inspect the car thoroughly enough to notice though?

anybody have a writeup on the removal of the front sway bar? also, any perspectives if the front sway bar was removed, but a front strut bar was used?

IIRC, the bumper reinforcment was added in 97 to bump up the crash rating on the car. So maybe the insurance company doesn't know the difference between the 95-96 and the 97-99.

Why remove safety features?

The real question you should ask is, "Why would I remove an integral part of my car's safety support structure, on a vehicle that is driven on public roads?"

When GEICO's shop looked at my car, the first thing the bodyman did was pull out his flashlight and look at the bumper support and said, "See this, its bent, we need to replace that." Was a low speed (20 mph collision).

The front sway bar has more of a direct impact on roll. The strut tower bar simply gives more rigidity to the body of the car in high speed turns reducing flex. The FSTB won't give you what you give up by sway bar removal.

If your car is lowered with stiff springs it is not "unsafe" to remove the front sway bar. It is a lot better coming into turns and such...I like it a lot.
