Hella Install ?

I have searched alot but found mostly just opinions on the install and no true directions. Im not the best w/ electronics and dont want to short anything else w/ "trial and error"

I bought the Hella Dual Airhorns and got a '99se. I think i need to go to an audio shop and buy some thin gauge ground wire? I would like to use the relay also. And im not sure if I keep the factory horn hooked up or what. If possible i would also like to hook up the airhorns to my alarm (DEI Sidewinder 6500 i think). Thanks for any help

Hella Airhorns or the Supertones?

If you can supertones, just put them where the stock ones are located. The plug from the oem harness goes right onto the Hella Horn. You need only to supply a ground wire.

They are just the Airhorns. 2 Airhorns, a compressor, a tube, a relay, and some bolts came w/ it.

Figure out where you want to put the airhorns. I put mine near the engine where the old stock horn was and mounted the compressor near the washer fluid. I have to make my own brackets for my triple airhorns though.

The tubes go from the compressor to the horns.

The wiring is the tricky part because we have Japanese cars.

There should be numbers written near the plugs of the relay.

Wire relay #85 is the stock horn.
Wire relay #86 is the ground.
Wire relay #87 is the power (battery).
Wire relay #30 is to the compressor.

If the numbers are different, then take a look at the directions. There should be at least some kind of diagram that shows which wires go to where.

What clee said. Here's what I did to mount things a little easier. Near the stock horn in front of the radiator is another terminal for a horn. Move your stock horn near your power steering reservoir to the front. Both stock horns will be in front of the radiator, one on each side of the center support (and thus very loud from the front). Mount the air horns on a bracket (make one out of a piece of flat aluminum) near the ps reservoir. I mounted (zip tie and large hose clamp) compressor to the wiring harness to the right of the passenger headlight (along radiator). Relay was mounted on the inner fender near the windshield washer tank (hole already there and tapped for a 10mm body screw). Wiring is like clee said, and run everything through small wire loom for professional looks (horn wire near ps reservior goes to relay for air horns). The negative on the compressor goes to ground, I used one for the headlights or whatever.
Result is both stock horns blow a split second before the air horn does. This setup is loud. I may try the Hella Supertones? (stock horn replacements) to make it even louder.
Keep everything looking tidy. I even replaced the clear air horn tubing with black hose for the complete stock look. People have looked under my hood and thought it was a factory option
An added touch is to paint the stock horns as they are slightly visible from the front. Mine are blue and look much better than the nasty stock stuff.
PM or email me if you need anything else. I can even email pics if you need them.

The positive on the compressor goes to the relay and the negative goes to a ground.
