97 SE 5-spd VS 00 GLE Auto?
My dad and I have a debate. I think that my 97 SE 5-spd could beat his 00 GLE auto stock to stock. We have the same options that add tons of weight, so it is proportional. I have 77K whereas he has 32K on the odo. He uses 89 grade (Cheap bastard!) and I use 93...I would win.....right??

i would bet all the money in my pocket on you.. it aint much money, but i would still bet it on the 97 5 speed. Also check out this article written by Steve Pake if you havent already checked it out.

You'll win, there's really no doubt in my mind. You would need to really mess up the launch or miss a shift to loose. A 97 auto vs a 2000 auto would be a very close race that could go either way, the 5spd is good for a half second or so better in the 1/4 so...
