argh.. another problem. stalling?
I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem, so I'm posting to see if it's a somewhat common occurence.
My car has 145k miles on it. The engine runs great. While driving today, the car hesitated and it seemed as if fuel was cut off. I was in third gear, around 2500 rpms, and while keeping the foot slightly on the accelerator pedal to keep constant speed, then the rpms went down and the car stalled. The car is a 5 speed. About an hour later and 25 miles down the road, it happened again. I promptly started the car back up and the car ran fine. I drove for another 3 miles or so without problems.
My friend changed the fuel filter for me afterwards. I'm not sure how well the previous owner kept up on maintenance, but the fuel filter was pretty beat down. It made a rattling noise when shaking it, and the fuel coming out appeared to have contacted with something corroded since the fuel dripping out of the fuel filter (old one) was slightly reddish-brownish. I drove for about 30 miles after changing the fuel filter and it was fine - no problems.
I have never experienced this problem up until today. I'm hoping it was just a clogged fuel filter or something. If this isn't the case, what else could it be? I changed the spark plugs with the stock Nissan platinum plugs (gapped at 0.43) about two weeks ago. I just hope that it isn't any major problems, because frankly, I'm beginning to get annoyed with the money I'm spending on the Maxima. Granted it has quite a bit of mileage, but my previous Maxima didn't give me any problems at all, aside from the starter.
Please share your opinions on this matter.
Thank you,
-Brian.
