Favorite Intake/Y-Pipe

Favorite Intake/Y-Pipe
Im getting a 98 automatic and from what Ive read in this forum, an intake and Y-pipe are good initial mods. If any of you out there with intakes and Y-pipes could tell me how you like yours that would be great. Im also curious about the increased noise levels as well as possible emissions problems.

I have a Frankencar Midpipe and Monsterflow Cone-shaped airfilter. I also have a Budget Y-pipe. The new intake doesn't really improve performance, but it sounds incredible. Hondas (RSX's) can only dream of having a car that sounds this good. The Y-pipe is the real power mod. Best bang for the buck of any bolt on.
Sound... the intake is only heard when you floor it. Other than that it's fine. The Y-pipe is only slightly louder when you floor it, too. No big issues here. And I'm told that when your car has time to warm up, it'll pass emissions just fine.

im fond of my injen and budget y but im biased. all Y's are about equal, the budget is just the cheapest...as BatKeith said intakes are really only for sound but damn they soud good... but i'd get a whole exhaust not just a y imo...

Also, the intake/Y combo is much better than Y alone because the car
breathes much easier...

I've had the Stillen intake on my 98 and now the Frankencar intake on my 99 and there is a noticeable performance difference. The car pulls harder (mine is a 5-speed) with the Frankencar intake on. I've even seen my gas MPG go up over 2MPG with the intake on.
I had a Cattman stainless Y on my 98 but decided to go cheap with the Budget this time. You can't beat their prices (effectively half of a Cattman when you figure the cost of shipping in to the Cattman price... shipping is included in the Budget price).

By the way, you can get the budget Y at www.budgetexhaust.com
They're located in Canada so the prices on their website are 250CN which is 167 shipped US currency. I have the budget y and frankencar intake and I have noticed great gains with both of them, and recomment both of them. For the frankencar intake go to www.frankencar.com

I have a 95 5 speed and I just have the Frankencar intake with a k&n filter, and I love how loud and aggressive it is. I have a stillen y pipe( got used with only 6K miles on it for 175 shipped) but I cant get under the car good enough, and no one around here will put it on due to takeing the cats off. I dont know what to do, I need to get this part on, I want more speed!! When I sell my civic hatch, I think Im going to get the b pipe, and the greddy cat back. The car is my driver, and has 125K miles on it(bought last October with 113K) so I know forced induction is out for now. But I know I will add as many power adders as I can. Does anyone know how much of a gain you get from the Unorthdox pully?

I love my PlaceRacing CAI and Budget y-pipe combo! Quiet at idle and under light acceleration.. and like everyone else says when u go WOT its awesome! You got an auto.. go with a CAI. Also I'm 5spd and i think that ever since i installed my lower pipe on to my intake ( i just a mid pipe and filter) it picks up much better. Maybe its in my head, but i like it!

it was your Y-pipe that caused you to fail (could be something else!)

injen/budget is my reccomendation for automatics. If you have extra cash then either make a custom midpipe or buy one and you can switch back and forth between the 2 setups. BOMZ now sells short-ram intakes for our cars and they're $30 usually.
Anyone replace their puny Injen filter with a K&N? If so, did it fit well, what part #, and was there noticeable gain?
