Fog lights out: Help Please

Passenger side fog went out, when I went to replace bulb, noticed a crack in lens (bulbs are stock wattage). Went on in to change bulb, to find that the bulb looks for the most part fine. either way I still replaced bulb with OEM bulb. Did the same to driver side fog, so light would match. Flipped fog light switch and NEITHER fog came on. So now it looks like both are out. Can anyone offer me some ideas or even an explanation on what's going on? I ran a search, but all the problems with fogs tend to be due to higher wattage bulbs which I do not have.

Thanks in advance for your input!

With two good looking bulbs and the drivers side being out when it was initially fine, the fuse was the first thing I checked, and it checked out ok.

First off, sorry for this long reply....I had a very similar problem...my bulb blew so i got some aftermarket "hyper white" or so they say ones...i put in the new bulbs and turned it on and nothing...checked the fuses and everything...bulb looked good, one worked and the other didn't...i drove around without foglights for about 6 months...last weekend i took them out to see if i can figure anything out...along with a friend we inspected the bulb it seemed fine, checked the fuses and they were also good...even though the bulb looked good, i swapped them...still nothing...i swapped it back and now both of them didn't work...they still looked like they weren't burnt...i decided to go and buy new bulbs, put them in, turned them on and they work fine...
the strange thing was that the bulbs looked good and yet they were burnt...go out and buy new bulbs, be careful putting them in, and try it...i paid like $12 for both at autozone...good luck

Use a Multimeter to check for continuity, that's sway to check the fuse and bulbs. Sometimes they LOOK fine but are not.

Exactly. You can kill yourself blindly fumbling around for the problem, or get a multimeter and get answers. Definitely a must have if you do any electrical work on your car at all.

New developement

Ok, check the connections to each fog to make sure connection was not the problem. Remounted fogs, turned light. Nothing still. Rechecked my fuse, nothing. Then I figured, well maybe I should up my fuse number a little perhaps thats the prob. Did so, and nothing.

.....while taking the 20 out put back the 15, I noticed.......the little black box which maps the locations of fuses was on Backwards so I've been ****'n around with the tail lamp or something like that which was always fine. The fog fuse was indeed blown, but now heres the new problem.

Replaced fused, fogs came on. Turned fogs off. Happy jobs done. Go to work this morning, Fogs not working AGAIN. Check fuse, Blown again. Up'd fuse to a 20 turned on fogs, Fog didn't even come on, just blew the fuse instantly WTF???? Now the question is, I guess, why is my car eating my fog fuses? I did add a tv and aftermarket radio to the ride recently, but I was having the fog issue before I did that installation.

Thanks for all the feedback fellas. Can anyone help me put this fog issue to rest now?

Sounds like you have a positive wire being grounded somewhere!

Re-check to make sure your positive wire is not spliced or exposed.

I've never done anything to the Fog light wiring, so if you could let me know what color wire to look for and in or around where I should be looking, I'll be on it come lunch time!!

Thanks HuliganRs

Don't up the Fuse capacity! You may burn a weaker (more expensive) part of the system.

I haven't changed my fog bulb yet but the princliple is the same...

On the back of the bulb there should be one wire, that's your positive. The male connector at the end of that wire plugs into a female plug.
Make sure it's fully inserted and nothing metal touches it (If metal touches your positive you'll blow fuses all day long)... While you are there make sure that wire is not exposed (i.e. cut). Check the wire loom after the female plug to make sure there are no cuts there!
