To all with problems they cant seem to fix

I have been having problems with hesitation and stalling for a while now. The other day i pulled on my wire harness and my car stalled. Today i had the mechanic tear apart the harness. He found two broken wires. One was the MAF ground and the other was the crank position sensor wire. I wasnt getting any codes either. Turns out the hesitation was caused by the ground wire disconnecting at times. Anyway we spliced them up and taped them and the car is like new again. Nissan had a tsb out on this and also and upgraded clip kit for the wiring harness so the wires dont break. I will have the part number tomorrow for anyone who wants it. Just figured I would let everyone else know in case they were having the same problems I was having.

there was a tsb for this? my car had similar problems and i took it to nissan and they said wires were corroded and fixed problem and car works perfectly now, except i paid 700 dollars for my problem. If for some reason i had same problem under tsb and i already paid for it, is it possible to get a refund if i prove to them that the tsb should have covered me? or is it just too late?

If you took it to Nissan they should have it on your maintenance record (when it was done, what was done, price I'm not sure) but if you can find the tsb and correlate it back to that repair, I would take it to them and request to have my money refunded back since that should have been covered by the tsb.

a tsb doesnt mean its fixed for free...its just a bulletin telling nissan mechanics that there is a problem. Now if there was a recall that would be a different story. Anyway if it makes you feel any worse he made me give me 40 bucks to fix the problem. I guess it pays to know someone to do side jobs.

Is your car still under warranty? If so, it sounds like really bad business for a dealership to not replace a part they can confirm is bad. This is assuming they have seen the voltage spikes, and they are not within specs.
If under warranty, I'd tell them to replace bad parts or you'll go to plan B (work your way up the food chain, nibbling as you go. Everyone has a boss somewhere).
Basically, it sounds like they would prefer a "valuable customer" to be stranded on the side of the road at 2 am in the pouring rain because they are too cheap/lazy to replace a failing part. Or they are waiting for your warranty to run out, then when it does fail, you have to pay the entire cost...
If your car is not under any kind of warranty, then you'll be stuck with the cost.

Where were the breaks? In the engine bay or in the cabin near the ECU?

The TSB that I had read about wire breakage referred to the huge harness that goes across the engine bay. The harness makes a 90 degree turn and goes back. I believe what was happening is there were wires breaking where that twist was. I think the wires were becoming weak becuase of constant warming and cooling from various engine cycles. From the way you wrote your post 97MaximaSE you made it seem like the wires were broken as they were entering the plastic harness connector. If the wires were breaking there, then it would be much easier to diagnose. I recall however, the TSB telling to diagnose by shaking the harness and seeing of the car behaves differently (idle changing, etc). I believe one of the wires that was breaking was the idle-up sensor wire...the wire that tells your idle to bump up with increased loads (such as AC compressor, etc). BTW, any TSB issues are covered for free (labor and parts) as long as you are under warranty. If you are out of warranty, I understand you owe labor and parts are covered. 97MaximaSE, take a picture of which harness you are speaking of...I believe it is different than the one in the TSB.

Do you guys know of a site that lists the TSBs and has a detailed descriptions of them?

So for a TSB, the part is free, but the labor is not? Can they just give me the part for free so I can have it installed some where else for cheap? If not, I want to see which ones are worth replacing by paying for Nissan labor. I know they're going to charge an hour labor for a 5 minute job

i wish i had a picture to give you but the best way i can describe it is go up from the crank sensor and to the right of the strut tower. Its just a huge black wire loom covered in electrical tape. you have to break all the wires apart and basically tugged at each wire till the car stalled or hesitated
