Are dashes the same for all 4th gen maximas?

I'm looking at getting a dash from a 1996 maxima. The pieces I need are basically the center dash (where the radio and shifter is) and all the window switch pieces (plastic around the window roll up and down). I have a 1997 maxima. Is it the exact same for both years?

Any particular reason you want to fall back a year on the dash.

I have a stock wood dash kit that came with the GLE. I need the plastic black dash so that I can add an aluminum dash to it. My local junk yard has the dash kit from a 1996

Couldn't you just give yours a light sanding, paint it a flat black and apply the kit over that?

That is an option, but it just seems like too much work. Plus if I wanted I could easily always go back to my wood dash if i leave it unaltered.
