Guys with ACT ??
Ive had my ACT Street set up for alittle over a year probably 20K miles and its grabbing much higher then when it was new or even 10K miles old..I noticed it only lately that its been grabbing pretty high near the top but it still grabs really well, i can grab second but not third cause of my LSD...
My main question is that where does your ACT clutch grab compaired to when it was new ??
I have a Fidanza flywheel as well and I do get a decent amount of chatter since day 1

I have just had my findanza and ACT removed. Had them in for about 1,000 miles and had serious issues. Not all of it was from the parts, most of it was from the shop that installed them. There was a rattle coming from the clutch assembly and very very bad chatter from install. The tranny would also make a real loud whine coming off the intersate.
Anyway, I just paid the dealership to install a new clutch because I was just feed up. But when it was in, the engagement point was realy high? (Someone mentiond before that there is a way to adjust the pedal engagement right where the cable comes through the firewall? Not sure about the truth to this?)
If I had it to do over again I would just get a factory clutch and install the findanza flywheel with it. Which might end up what I do once I get the flywheel replated. (Think they do that for about$100??...)
This issue had me looking at dealerships for weeks trying to find a 2k2-2k3 Sterling Mist 6spd.... but never came across one so decided to just go ahead and fix it.

I have a Fidanza and ACT Stage II and I love it! Its by far the best thing I've done to my Maxima. Zero chatter and it grabs about two inches into the clutch. I say it has to do with the install. Just my 2 cents.

nothing is wrong with them, its not OEM, its a performance clutch, you give up comfort to get performance. Also allot has to do with the install, even OEM clutched can cause problems.

WHOA there Jay - double post. ![Big Grin](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Like I said - no problems for me even with the Fidanza.
Sompletely installed myself (with help from mtrai760)
Just make sure you sand all contact points well, use the alignment tool properly, and install the T/O bearing right.

nah Im not complaining about the ACT at all..I love it I just really wonder about the contact point being pretty near the end of the pedal...
If I go in to do the bearings on the tranny, do I replace the clutch or no

You need some white out mark clutch and flywheel, take the clutch apart and inspect it. If its good you have it marked put it back together. If the clutch is toast you know what to do.

well, the initial engagement point onthe clutch pedal can be adjusted via the piston that is secured to the clutch pedal via the "nut"/ cotter pin. You undo the 12mm bolt on the piston with a wrench and then use pliers/vice grips to turn the piston counterclockwise, to have more freeplay(lower clutch engagment), and clockwise for less freeplay(higher clutch engagment). Right now, mine grabs a half inch off the floor.... ACT is good ****.

my ACT never had chatter to begin with. It also grabs very aggressively and bout 1 inch off the floor as u start to let go of the clutch pedal. I use to chirp 4th but now I only get a slight chirp in 3rd gear. New tires/suspension hook up pretty well I guess
