tried to reset ECU...I F---ed up...HELP!!!
I was at the track lastnight. In the burnout box I wheelhopped and my intake midpipe fell off. So when I went down the track I got a check engine light.
So I tried to reset the ECU because I have done it a few times before but I couldnt really see what I was doing and I couldnt figure out if I was turning it the right way. I couldnt remember which way you are supposed to turn it. So then I get a flashlight and realized that I messed up the screw. I turned it too far one way or the other past the stop.
WHAT TO DO NOW?!?!?!?! CEL is still on!!!

If you have tried to turn it both ways and around and around without getting it to clear the CEL, then you might have to remove it and open it up to see if the screw has snapped the switch? Try to go to an Autozone and see if they can maybe reset your light for you. I know the ones in my area can check engine lights and turn them off? But if you don't have it back in the on postion and just in the test, then it might not be possible to reset? Good luck and keep us posted!

is the screw righty tighty lefty loosy like all other screws? does that mean if i screw it right for a while i might fix it?
it feels real ackward to twist the screw right now...it isnt smooth. it stops and goes.

mine i passed the stop line about 3 or 4 times i went clockwise and counter clockwise.. i was not able to turn my car on for days.. so i wanted to take the ECU to the dealer and have them check it..but they told me that i needed to bring the whole car along.. so i started to clean the ECU (nothin else to do) and the i read there.. that it said after testing return the screw to the same position it was before.. i think it going counter-clock-wise until it stops.. then i tried ot turn on the car and it didn't work.. after the 3rd time i tried it turned on and i had to press the gas petal to keep the car on.. but after a new minutes it went back to normal
