I ordered a 96 ECU out of a Nissan Maxima SE 5 Speed Manual transmission, for my 97 Nissan Maxima SE 5 Speed Manual transmission and the guy said the computer was showing that it would not work in my car.

I told the guy to go ahead and send it since I had read, and believed it was general knowledge around here that it would indeed work in the car.

Im going to send this ecu off to JWT for the reprogramming, and I basically wanted to put the fear of it not working to rest.

It appeared they have 2 kinds to choose from for the 1996 ECU. The 10/95 and 11/95. The one I ordered was 11/95. Im not sure what the dates have to do with anything but I wanted to hear from some maxima.org members who have put this 95 or 96 ecu in the 97 or 98 maxima.

Anyone else who can vouch for this let me know something. Was I supposed to get one out of a 1995 Maxima ? Is the 1995 ecu better than the 1996 ?

 

Nismo has a 95 ecu in his 97 maxima and it doesn't throw off a CEL and works fine.

 

I had an 11/95-later ECU in my 97. Worked fine except for the CEL.
