my car doesnt want to start....

I am leaving on a trip to md today and I go outside, but my car wont start....my check engine light came on the other day driving back from chicago (to va - about 900 mi)....it ran ok today (if you have read any of my other posts youll know this car already has a host of problems)....i went back outside and tried a few more times, and i could get it to start when i gave it some gas, but it would drop quick and try to stall out....eventually it catches and will idle, at about 500 rpm...what do you all think is wrong? dirty fuel injectors? dirty spark plugs? something else? at least it worked when i gave it some gas, but now i dont want to leave on my trip with this car cause i am afrai it will break down on me (which sucks cause I have a 2-3 week project i am supposed to be starting! i.e. paid work)....anyway, just curious....

my altima was impossible to start. i changed the distrubutor and it runs like new ever since then. try a new distrubutor, MIGHT solve the problem.

LOL

4th gen maximas are electronic fuel injected. it has no distributor.

try cleaning throttle body. i bet your throttle body is clogged up and gunk there is holding your throttle body plate. result: at low RPM or cranking up, the engine idles badly and try to stall out.

Pmb thats exactly what it does! I made it to md ok though....I just have to give it gas and then rev to 1k rpm for a couple sec and it usually will drop to 400 rpms and then go up to 700 rpms....and idle...I am not going to be back in va for 3-5 weeks now though, so It wil be a while until I can get this prob solved....
