CAI whistle

I got one of those CAI’s off eBay and installed it perfectly and it works perfect and sounds even better, but when I have my foot lightly on the gas it makes a whistle sound or a squeal sound… nothing bad in fact it sounds good, but I want to make sure that that’s normal?

Not very loud at all with the driver window up I can’t hear it.

I was wondering about this myself... you only hear it when you're actually moving. If you're in park and you give it the same type of light gas, you don't hear the whistle. Always wondered about it, but I guess if others have it too, it's normal.

I just noticed this with my injen last night, the only thing with mine is when I give it more gas the sound is higher pitched, is that normal? It doesn't happen in park.

my Hybrid whistles, only because of the mid pipe. If you don't want the whistle just replace the mid pipe with the original resonator. (intake will not be as loud)

Same Ebay CAI. I get my whistle in the 1700 to 1850 rpm range. Rule of thumb, the faster the air velocity and the lower frequency the the harmonic (whistle) the more efficent the flow. The perfect intake / exhaust would produce no sound.

the intake whistles while moving because its the air flowing into it... moving at through a small space whistles (open a window a crack when its windy out) then ur in park or standing still, it pulls it air, but wont do it at those low RPMs

I just bought, most likely, this same one. Where did you get a template at or what did you do to install it?

think that only applies at WOT. maybe thats why VIM makes the intake alot smooth and quieter tone

Hmm...maybe your car is broken.

As for the whistle...I'm curious if anyone's done any investigating...is it the pipe wistling or is it air coming through the cracks in the fender well?

I want to say the butterfly makes the noise. Think of it this way, it's open, but not much, so the air hits it and gets bounced around. Or could it be the TB itself? When the stock resonator is on the whistle goes away and all the resonator really does is quiet the intake, so either way the whistle was and is always there. It all depends if you can hear it.

I believe the one that apeg bought is the procarparts one. It is the one that I bought. I haven't gotten it yet but hopefully it wont be a total piece.
