You ever thought he might have thrown 10K worth of mods in his car?

If your knock sensor is bad then it is most definetly your problem. When I changed mine, i went from a 17.9 1/4 mile to a 16.1 stock auto.

Don't be too upset. When I had my Civic (93 4 door) I crushed this guy in a 2k2 Maxima. But I had about 12K in the engine alone. But I someone esle wanted that car more than me. The thing about it was the didn't take the engine.....Dummies

are you an auto, cause that could easily be the reason. in my old auto i lost to a 92 accord 5 speed. however, after i bought my y pipe, i crushed a 99 civic 5 speed REAL bad. if he had full exhaust and intake, theres a good chance he could beat you if hes a good driver. the knock sensor is also a huge problem for you. get it fixed ASAP.

Don't feel so bad. I lost pretty bad to my buddy's Civic hatchback. He's got a GSR motor with cams, pistons, fuel-rail,headers, intake, catback, etc. We went to the track and he ran a 13.9 to my 14.5. Not all Civics are slow pieces of $hit. Some of them (about 2%) are pretty fast.
