Does 02 sensor control it all?

In reading past posts, it looks like the 02 sensor could be my problem. How much does it control engine idle/running.
Today my car took a full minute after a warm (not hot)start to idle normal (I had to keep rpm's up at 2,000 to 2,500 to avoid stall)

Does 02 sensor have this much control?

No, that does not sound like an O2 sensor problem.

02 sensor makes car run better but your problem sounds beyond that. I always had a good idle. One thing i unconciously realized after changing my 02 sensor was that i need less gas to do everything. Before i could roll out with no gas but would have to keep playing with clutch and rpm's, like move a little and be about to stall and floor clutch in then slightly let it out so i can move a little more and when i finally have momentum i can just let go of clutch. NOw i can do it a lot easier...

signs for new 02 sensor...
-a lot of gas needed to get out of first gear
-nasty first gear
-bad gas mileage
-code (front is 03 03) and thats what i got
