headlight problem :(

A new problem just popped up today as I was leaving the mall. For some reason when I turn my headlights on, the blue lil signal for my highbeams also come on. Normally I would just keep on driving and eventually the light would turn off. However recently my left headlight would not turn on at all. The problem is, is that it keeps happening off and on; one day everythings fine, no high beam signal on, both headlights working...and the next my left headlight wont turn on and I have bright blue highbeam light staring at me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. the light in my ashtray recently stop turning on, and the cig lighter also isnt working

thanks

ummm...

I did change out my headlights a while back. I read a lot of stories about maxima owners melting the harnesses cuz of high wattage bulbs....I believe I'm running about 65w if I can remember correctly. Anything in particular I should notice about the fuses, cuz the lights do work sometimes.

first, for the cig liter it is the fuse. Check that out first. with the headlight, it is the harness. Get the upgraded wiring harness (nokya from southwestautoparts) for 15 bucks and replace them yourself. in doing so, make sure the wires are matched up correctly, not by the color of the wires.

well as for the upgraded harness, I just ordered it online. As for the fuse I was looking under the hood for something labeled for the cig lighter or for something close to that, since my ashtray light is also out...and I couldn't find anything. Could it be a loose connection behind the dash.

BTW will the upgraded harness cure my headlight problems???

your headlights will be good as new. i had that problem after running nokya bulbs but switched to phillips blue visions and with nokya harnesses, problem solved. i used to have to tap the back of my headlight to turn it on cuz the harness was totally melted.

the fuse for cig lighter is near where your left knee is when sitting in driver's seat. g'luck
