Driver side outside mirror

Well, my car which was parked out on the street for the first time, got it's side view mirror on the driver side broken off. It was hanging there when I got back from work. I am past being ****ed off but now I am faced with having to replace it. I found one at a wreckers but the factory service manual directions say to remove the inside of the door panels and then take the mirror off. Is that the only way? I really want to avoid having to spend all the time taking the door panel apart.

Hope I can get some help here. Thanks!

Door panel literally takes less than 5 minutes. 3 screws (2 on bottom and one in door "cup"), pop the trim around the door handle, and a few plastic clips holding panel to sheetmetal of door. Unhook electrical connections for the window switch module, door light, and trunk release. Installation is reverse.

Basically what he said, two screws on the bottom of door panel, one inside the door handle, unclipping all the other stuff is real easy. Their is a black triangular trime piece it's held on by 3 clips and a bolt, take off the bolt triangular piece comes off, some more screws that you gotta take out slides right out, it's easy.

seriously, easy as hell. I thought it was going to be impossible, but the only hard part was getting the door latch trim piece out. Everything else was easy. Also, get yourslef a pry tool (like $5 at an auto parts place) that way to save your interior when you pry everything apart.
