Loss of power w/custom short ram?

For my birthday, i got an ebay CAI which i converted into a short ram instead. For some reason it feels as if i have to step a little harder on the gas to accelerate.

I am using the ebay filter for now; will an upgrade (K&N) do the trick?

As i remember, short ram is mainly for sound purposes and not performance, am i correct?

if i decided on another short ram/hybrid, what is the best for the money i can find? I will also be combining this w/an OBX as well.

Thanx in advance

short ram should be good during cold weather. currently, no one really dyno it at low temp weather.
