95 max died on the road? road side assistance plz

The wierdest thing occurred yesterday. Before i get into it, the check engine light had been on for two weeks, which i had neglected out of inconvenience. I was driving my car yesterday and all of a sudden, the parking break light, and oil light go on. Steering became really stiff, i tried braking, and it was stiff as well. all this occurred while the car was still rolling.

i basically rolled the car to the side of the road and tried to restart it. It cranked strong but wouldnt start. After 15 min, i called AAA for a tow.

an hour later when they arrived, it started but had a great amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust. The tow truck said it started, do you still want a tow. I said heck yeah.

A friend i spoke to suggested the alternator was going or had gone. another idea was the fuel pump went. Another friend said 95's had problems with the electricial system in respect to the wiring harness.

With all these hypothesis, i ended up leaving it at the garage. Has anyone had this type of problem with their 4th gen?

The car stalled, thats why everything got stiff. Check for codes, that should tell you whats wrong. My guess would be a crank or cam position sensor failed.

thanks for the feedback. the ECU reported two codes. one for the knock sensor and the other for the o2. A mechanic at the nissan dealer commented that the 1995 maximas had a known problem with the wiring harness and to consider looking there as well. I changed the knock sensor today but the car did continue to have hesitation upon startup. will try changing the o2 sensor tomorrow. this is becoming more costly than i had hoped.
