Clutch slipping???

I have a 5 spd, when I'm in first and put it to the floor it takes off. When I'm in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th and put it to the floor the RPM's go up about 300-800 rpm and then come back down. My question, do I need to buy a new clutch, like and ACT clutch, or is there an adjustment on the clutch/housing that I can do??? It's driving me crazy, it just started to do it over the weekend.

i am having the same problem. i had a act clutch for about 2months till i got a leak in my tranny. i think its ruined. i just posted and ask about that. as far as your clutch for sure you need a new one. i suggest act because i picks up right off the floor.. its a great feeling.

Could be the clutch fluid you are using. Have you changed it to something other than stock?

Hmm, thats typically a slipping clutch. However, mine was slipping badly, and whenever i punched it, i never had that problem, only shifting would it slip.

Now, if your not going to be boosted, or spraying, theres really no need for a ACT or anything strong like an Exedy. If your going with just bolt-ons just get yourself an OEM clutch. MAKE sure its an OEM, NOT OEM equivilant (sp?)

it doesn't matter what speed I'm going, it still slips. I've used the same fluid from nissan, I can't remember what it is though. So you think an ACT clutch "Stage 1" would be a good bet? I found it at http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaClutches I am only going to have bolt-ons. Thanks for your help

I guess you definately just skipped over my last post ..

Running an ACT clutch when you are only planning bolt-ons is overkill, stick with an OEM clutch. You only need a strong clutch (i.e. Exedy, ACT) if your boosted, or spraying....

How long from the time you first notice some slipping until it fully goes?

If you baby it, im sure you can go awhile...

Mine went from being able to chirp second, to not being able to chirp, to slipping in a coupla thousand miles...However, i tried to spray a 50-shot and it baked the clutch...So mine was a pretty rapid decline...
