get the B&M, for the $130 i paid for it, it was worth it. the stillen is over $200 and thats a little too much for an STS.

The stillen STS is mighty expensive but is worth it in the long run. I have had heard stories about different STSs breaking because of heat from the cat or because of cheap materials. Stillen is for real, I have had my stillen STS for about 4k and nothing so far (knock on wood). I recommend stillen because of the reliability of the shifter but it's your preference, I'm just telling you out of experience.

How is the smoothness of the Stillen like compared to stock? Is it just as smooth in shifting, or more notchy? I have heard multiple stories from people who have owned both B&M and pacesetter, and they claim they are pretty notchy and not nearly as smooth as stock

i havent gotten the sway bar yet. i ordered it yesterday and it will be here sometime this week. hopefully by wednesday.

i think im going to go with the B&M STS from custom maxima. the place where i ordered my sway bar got a price check on B&M at $230. custom maxima has it for $140. but i still am not completely sure yet.

Whats up? It seems a lot of STS's are pretty notchy, I had a cheap e-bay unit in my 96, and did'nt like it. I drove a 97 with a Stillen shifter and did'nt like that one either. They just didnt feel good. So what I did was take the stock shifter out, cut it above and below the pivot ball, cut about 3/4 an inch from above the pivot ball and welded it in below the pivot ball. You have to be careful not to melt the plastic pivot ball, but it works out pretty good. Once installed it feels just as smooth as stock, but short like a STS should feel.

By cutting this piece, did you just make it shorter, and not reduce the the actual throw length? Or did you some how manage to work the angles for a shorter throw? I would love to some how create an sts with the smoothness of the stock shifter.

The stillen STS is a little notchy but that's what is expected when getting a STS. The main thing is that the stillen has a shorter throw, a much shorter throw. I have noticed that this comes in handy when racing autos or going WOT to prove a point to a friend. I will say that the shorter throw of the shifter does really out weight the notchyness of the shifter.
I have had the stillen for about 3 months now and love it. I don't regret getting it, it's money well spent.
