Just finished putting the waterpump in my 96 GLE and my annoying whistling noise is finally gone!

The noise I had was at idle only after the car has warmed up......it is extremely loud and can be heard inside the car......

I tried everything from changing the belts & tensioner to the right side upper motor mount to no avail.
I had a feeling that the water pump but was dreading doing the job...

Overall wasnt too hard. Took about 3 hours start to finish.

Anyone with a loud, strange high-pitched whistle noise will want to do this....
