Need Help Fast!

Ok here's my story.

Yesterday afternoon I started up my car, after awhile of turning it finally started but the CEL was on. I got home and ran my codes. 0407 was the code, turning out to be the crankcase position sensor (REF). So therefore I grabbed my trusty chilton's manual and looked it up and purchased the sensor that was at the front of the engine under the crankpulley. I just installed it and attempted to clear my codes but the CEL is still present. Did I buy the wrong part, or am I just retarded and can't get the codes to clear correctly.

Any quick help is greatly appreciated,

J

reset the ecu or unplug the battery, then try it.

it still starts kinda crappy, perhaps i'll try cleaning the POS sensor, the REF is brand new so I know that one's not the problem, any more suggestions would be great, thanks again.

To reset the ECU(easiest way I think) with the ECU screw all the way clockwise(check codes) turn on car and while the engine is running just turn it all the way counterclockwise. I know the 2 second crap but my screwdriver always slips and it takes long to do it all over...

well, it turns out i'm retarded. on the directions to reset the ecu it failed to mention to have the key in the "on" position. i also blew out the wiring clip and the sensor to rid it of any dust, granted it was pretty clean to begin with. it seems to start better now, but tomorrow morning will be the determining factor. keeping my fingers crossed, i don't want to be out 40 dollars just to spend 90 more on the other sensor. thanks everybody for their input.
