CD Player Skipping - Help!

Hi,

I was driving home today and my CD player started skipping, almost like I was going over the bumpiest road known to man - but I wasn't. It continued when I stopped at a stop light, and after I turned the stereo off and back on, and after I shut off the engine and started it again, and after I changed CDs... You get the drift. Is this something I can fix with some sort of cleaning disc, or do I need to take it to a shop, or can I fix it by hitting it with a baseball bat?

Any help anyone could give me would be very much appreciated.

(I have a 95 SE with the Bose stereo)

Thanks,
J
