mistake when checking ECU

dah...I had trouble turning the ecu thing since my screwdriver (only one) was slightly too large. messed up the plastic to turn it and while fiddling with it...made the 'check engine' light turn off without seeing the flashing lights....any way to turn this back on?

What plastic? There is no plastic exposed on the ECU. If you didn't break anything just check the codes again...

I don't think so you can check the code once it has been reset. All data is cleared I beileve, unless the OBD scanner can do something special that i don't know about. I say just wait and see if it comes back on, that's my best bet.

When you say messed up the plastic, do you mean the plastic that is covering the screw you have to turn to reset/check your ecu? That is just the warning sticker and supposed to be ripped to get to the screw. Just do the diagnostic self test and see if you get any codes.

That's not it since he had to remove the sticker to get to the screw in the first place. The codes will return after a few day s or sooner. If they don't you need a new knock sensor since that code doesn't return for weeks...

I used too big of a screwdriver and messed up the inside plastic screw thing...does that many sense? I already broke through the plastic thing though it's the screw that's messed up
