A "knocking" sound when i push accelerator
I have a 95 5spd with an ACT street disc clutch. I have had this setup for over a year and a half with little or no problems. However, now when I push the pedal down and the car is in gear I get a knock coming from under the hood. The knock also occurs when i take my foot off the gas. It does not happen when I rev the engine in neutral (leads me to believe it is in the tranny). Nissan dealer told me it was the flywheel but didn't want to charge me the labor to take tranny apart and find out. I'm worried! I don't want to be doing more damage to the car. Please help.

KNOCK SENSOR makes no noise, it detects pings/knocks from the engine. i believe he is a hearing a different type of knock. can u hear it at low speeds? can u tell which side on the engine bay its comming from?
I know it's not the knock sensor. I can't pinpoint what part of the bay it is coming from but I can really hear it at low speeds, but i can tell that it is doing it in 2nd or 3rd, but 4 and 5 exhaust and intake drown it out. Any other ideas?

it monitors minute knocking in the engine... this doesnt sound like it
So it is one or more of the mounts, i guess. What exactly is wrong with it? Is it loose or completley wrecked? I figured that I would be able to hear the motor mount shift just by revving the engine un neutral, but as I said before it only happens when a gear is engaged, si it leads me to believe that it is a transmission mount, i guess....
My car produced a very similar noise and symptoms that you describe.
The noise appeared to be coming from around the firewall or underneath the car. It turned out to be a loose front wheel bearing.
I would suggest checking front wheel bearings in addition to the engine mounts.
