problem with my '98 Maxima

I just bought the thing and it's acting up around 3-4,000 RPMS. It feels like it's hesitating and when it's at full throttle, it's ok. The car has 68k and I had the oild changed and put fuel injector cleaner in with 93octane gas because the car was sitting for 2 months. It's a 5 speed and when I take off in first gear it shakes a little. The clutch seems fine. I'm thinking about checking the spark plugs and wires to check for arcing and cleaning the throttle body out a little. There is no check engine light on. The car drives nice, but when you try to keep a steady speed on the highway, it jerks back and forth. The only time it doesn't jerk is if you have the throttle more than half way open or if you let up on the gas. Any ideas?

thank you

I'm going to replace the air filter and clean the throttle body today and I'll post another reply if it's still doing that. But, thank you for the info.
